最拿手的甜点

 
 Apricot Squares

 Makes about 2 dozen squares


  • 1    cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 2    cups all-purpose flour
  • 1    cup apricot jam
  • 2    egg whites
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 1    cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup slivered almonds
  Preheat oven to 350 F. Cream butter, granulated sugar and vanilla in large bowl until fluffy. Stir in flour;
  blend well. Spread in ungreased 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Bake 15 minutes. Cool completely on wire rack.
 
  Spread jam over cooled crust. Beat egg whites and almond extract in medium bowl until soft peaks form.
  Gradually add powdered sugar and beat until stiff and glossy.  Spread mixture over jam.  Sprinkle with
  almonds. Bake at 350 F 15 ~ 20 minutes. Cool completely on wire rack. Cut into 2 inch squares. 
  

   This recipe is from Alma Laue who was the first place winner in the Cookie category in the annual contest, Abilene, Kansas.

    Sure is!I am the kind of person who always like SWEET. I prefer home made black coffee witch always goes with the most delicious, chewy, melt-in-mouth cake and cookies… Yummy!
